After more than 113 years since the famous maritime disaster in which the "Titanic" sank, the secrets of the ship still captivate everyone, continuing to reveal new details. In this context, a letter written by one of the survivors of this disaster was sold at a record amount of 300,000 British pounds in a public auction. The letter belonged to Colonel Archibald Gracie, a first-class passenger on the ship, who authored a book titled "The Truth About the Titanic," recounting his personal experience in the tragedy that resulted in the deaths of over 1500 people. The letter, dated April 10, 1912, the day he boarded the ship, contained a Queenstown postmark at 3:45 pm on April 11 and London on April 12, with impactful words. Gracie wrote in the letter: "She is a beautiful ship, but I will reserve judgment until the end of my journey," adding in another corner: "The ship is like an old friend, although lacking the refined style and diverse entertainment of this large ship, its maritime qualities make me miss it." On the other side of the letter, Gracie thanked the person who bid him a nice farewell, concluding his message with wishes of success and happiness for him. This letter, expected to be sold for 60,000 British pounds, was sold for five times that amount, setting a record never achieved before for a letter written aboard the Titanic. The RMS Titanic collided with an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean on the night between April 14 and 15, 1912, while sailing from Southampton to New York, leading to its sinking and the deaths of over 1500 people. The ship retained its notoriety as one of the worst maritime disasters in peacetime history. After its sinking, the ship split into two pieces, and its wreckage was found at a depth of over two miles below the sea surface, in an area spanning three miles by five. Today, Gracie's letter is considered one of the rarest pieces recounting the events aboard the ship, still evoking nostalgia and curiosity for everyone, serving as a rare testimony to the tragic moments experienced on board this famous ship.
