Qatar officially announces its bid to host the 2036 Olympics, promising exceptional organization
After impressing the world with its exceptional organization of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar continues to enhance its status as a global sports destination. The Qatar Olympic Committee has submitted its official bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games for the year 2036, during a meeting held yesterday with the International Olympic Committee.

The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and head of the bid committee, who emphasized that Qatar has advanced sports infrastructure ready at 95% to host the Olympics, with a comprehensive national plan to ensure 100% readiness before the event starts.
He explained that this plan is based on a long-term strategic vision aimed at building a sustainable legacy in social, economic, and environmental aspects.

Sheikh Joaan pointed out that the bid reflects Qatar's commitment to supporting the Olympic and Paralympic movement, and its efforts to enhance the role of sports as a means of bringing people together and promoting humanitarian communication. He affirmed that Qatar not only offers top-notch sports facilities but also a comprehensive vision that goes beyond competitions to include development, innovation, and legacy.

Qatar's rich experience in organizing major tournaments enhances the chances of its Olympic bid being accepted, as the country has previously hosted several prominent international and regional sports events, including the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 1995, the 2015 Handball World Cup, the 2019 World Athletics Championships, the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the 2024 World Aquatics Championships, the 2025 Table Tennis World Championships, in addition to the 2006 Asian Games and the AFC Asian Cup in 1988, 2011, and 2023.

Qatar is also preparing to host several important future tournaments, including the FIFA U-20 World Cup starting in 2025 for five years, the 2026 Shooting World Championships, the 2027 Basketball World Cup, and the 2030 Asian Games, reflecting international confidence in its organizational capabilities and advanced infrastructure.

Furthermore, Qatar continues to lead the international sports scene and has emerged as a top contender to host the second edition of the new format FIFA Club World Cup in 2029, following the remarkable success of the first edition held recently in the United States.
The total costs for that edition reached nearly one billion dollars, including financial rewards for the clubs, with Chelsea, the champion of the edition, receiving over 125 million dollars.

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) rejected a proposal by some major clubs like Real Madrid to hold the tournament every two years, citing the difficulty of securing large-scale funding regularly, in addition to the crowded international competition calendar.
Although FIFA President Gianni Infantino hinted during the tournament at studying the possibility of shortening the time between editions, the final decision was to hold the tournament every four years.

Several countries are competing to host the 2029 edition, notably Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, with Qatar's chances looking high due to its rich history of organizing major tournaments and its proven efficient advanced infrastructure before the world.
