Russian President Vladimir Putin said today, Friday, that he is concerned that the world is heading towards World War III.

Speaking at an economic forum in St. Petersburg, Putin added that there is a high possibility of conflict in the world and that these possibilities are increasing.

He referred to the war in Ukraine and the conflict between Israel and Iran, expressing concern about the developments around Iran's nuclear facilities where Russian experts are working on building two new nuclear reactors for Tehran.

Responding to a question from journalists about whether he feels that the world is heading towards World War III, Putin said, "It is a worrying matter. I speak without any sarcasm or jokes. Of course, there is a high possibility of this conflict, and it is increasing, it is directly in front of us, and it directly affects us."

He added: "This naturally requires not only our careful attention to current events, but also the search for solutions... and it is preferable that this be done through peaceful means, in all directions".
