The Portuguese national team secured a spot in the final of the 2025 UEFA Nations League for the second time in its history, following an exciting 2-1 victory over the German team in the semi-final held at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
The match started with German dominance, amidst repeated attempts by the Portuguese to score an early goal.
Diego, the Portuguese goalkeeper, shined remarkably and saved several dangerous chances, including two powerful shots from Wirtz and Pavlovic inside the penalty area.
In the 48th minute, the German team managed to open the scoring after a cross from Kimmich was headed into Costa's net by Florian Wirtz, giving Mannschaft the lead.
However, the Portuguese quickly responded, as coach Conceicao equalized with a stunning shot from outside the penalty area.
The Portuguese were not satisfied with the draw, and continued to press until their star Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winning goal five minutes before the end, benefiting from a remarkable pass from Mendes, reaching his 137th goal in his 220th match with the national team, and his 13th goal in 18 matches in the UEFA Nations League.
Portugal's goalkeeper Diego maintained his goal against dangerous counter attempts, saving a strong shot from Adeyemi, while Ter Stegen stood tall against double chances in the final minutes, but the result remained unchanged.
With this victory, the Portuguese national team awaits the winner of the second semi-final match between Spain and France, which will be held this Thursday evening, in an anticipated final for the title of the 2025 UEFA Nations League.
