Yevgeny Balitsky, the Russian-appointed official for the Zaporizhia region in southern Ukraine, said that the process of restoring electricity to consumers has begun after a Ukrainian attack caused the outage.
Balitsky mentioned via Telegram that power has been restored to around 20% of over 600,000 people who were affected by the outage.
Russian news agencies reported on Tuesday morning that power was cut off for at least 700,000 people in parts of two Ukrainian regions controlled by Russia due to attacks by Ukrainian forces.
There has been no immediate comment from Ukraine, which is fighting to reclaim the territories seized by Russia.
