The flames of the old dispute between the two artists Maya Diab and Assala Nasri have reignited, after the two stars exchanged fiery statements that caused a huge stir on social media, especially among their respective fans, turning into an intense verbal war that shows no signs of cooling down.
The story began when the Syrian singer Assala Nasri was asked during a press conference held after her participation in the Jerash Festival about her opinion on Maya Diab's new album. The surprise was in Assala's response, which seemed as if she knew nothing about the album, and even expressed her lack of interest in it, saying:
"Who? No, unfortunately, I haven't heard it."
And although the album she was asked about has not been officially released yet, Assala's answer provoked the ire of Maya Diab's fans, and many considered it a belittlement of her colleague.
Assala's statement, which was circulated through a clipped video on the platform "X" (formerly Twitter), ignited social media in recent hours, opening the door for Maya Diab to respond in a manner some described as "biting".
On the sidelines of her honoring ceremony at the BIAF Festival in Beirut, Maya did not hesitate to respond directly, saying:
"She is an ungrateful person, and I wish she would zip it!"
She added sarcastically:
"And if you want to explain to her in Arabic because she won't understand the word in English!"
Diab's statements received wide reactions, with some considering it "putting the dots on the letters" and others seeing it as an unnecessary escalation, which fueled the dispute between the fans of the two stars, who exchanged accusations and fierce defenses online.
It is worth noting that the tension between Assala and Maya is not a new phenomenon, as Maya has previously hinted in several interviews about the existence of a "crisis" or "negative stance" between her and Assala, without going into details or revealing the reasons for the dispute.
So far, Assala has not issued any new response to Maya Diab's statements, while social media continues to boil with comments between attackers and defenders, amid questions about whether this verbal battle will stop, or if it is just the beginning of new chapters in an old conflict.
