The Austrian authorities have reported that more than 300 Syrian citizens have left Austria since the beginning of the current year, representing an increase of one-third compared to the years 2023 and 2024 combined, according to the Ministry of the Interior.
According to the data, 58 Syrians have been deported to the European country responsible for their asylum requests under the Dublin Agreement.
Figures from the Austrian Ministry of the Interior reveal a significant decrease in the number of refugee family reunifications last month. The data also shows that hundreds of Syrian citizens have left Austria since the beginning of the current year.
In March 2025, the Austrian government announced the suspension of refugee family reunifications starting from May until the end of September 2026, with exceptions made for some humanitarian cases, making it the first country in the European Union to take this step.
According to current statistics from the Austrian Ministry of the Interior, only 74 cases of entry for family reunification were recorded in Austria in May last year, compared to 1270 cases in the same month of 2024.
The Austrian news agency mentioned that "the main reason for this significant decrease is that the authorities have not processed requests for reuniting Syrian refugee families since the fall of the Assad regime, except in exceptional cases".
