Minister of Social Affairs: Formation of Emergency Room to Monitor the Situation of Those Affected by Fires in Latakia Countryside
The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor in Syria, Hind Kabawat, affirmed today, Monday, that an Emergency Room has been formed to monitor the situation of those affected and displaced by the fires in Latakia countryside, to provide all forms of urgent support to them. She pointed out that efforts are being made to assess the necessary needs in coordination with the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor in Latakia.

"SANA" quoted Minister Kabawat as saying that immediate intervention was carried out by non-governmental organizations, and the Directorates of Social Affairs and Labor in the provinces to meet some needs within the available capabilities.

The Minister continued: "Work is being carried out on the ground in full coordination between the Directors of Social Affairs and Labor in the provinces and the Directorate of Social Affairs in Latakia, in addition to working with the Ministry of Emergencies and Disaster Management. The Ministry is also conducting direct assessments of the damages on the ground".

Regarding the timeframe for distributing aid, Kabawat indicated that it is linked to the ongoing need and based on assessments by the concerned parties, explaining that the aid includes food baskets, canned goods, field mattresses, meals and drinking water, and natural juices for the firefighting personnel. A field kitchen has been allocated in the Latakia province to provide meals for those working to extinguish the fire.

The Minister confirmed that civil defense vehicles are being supplied with fuel tanks in coordination with the Directorates of Social Affairs and Labor in the provinces of Deir ez-Zor, Al-Hasakah, and Damascus.

The Minister emphasized the importance of integrating efforts between ministries, praising the immediate initiatives taken by other provinces, reflecting the spirit of cooperation and national unity in facing disasters.
