Syria's new Minister of Economy, Nidal Shaa'r, announced that the government is working on a comprehensive plan involving all sectors to launch the reconstruction process in Syria in partnership with the people and friendly countries. In an interview with the Russian radio station "Sputnik," Shaa'r explained that "the country was left by the Assad regime destroyed and bankrupt," noting that "the formation of the new government represents a step at the beginning of a difficult journey fraught with risks and obstacles." The minister emphasized the "importance of the upcoming stage with the formation of a new government, especially on the living level," pointing out that "improving it requires plans, support, funding, openness, and approvals from the international community." He pointed out that "Syria as a new friendly state for everyone needs all the support it can get," adding that "the government will start prioritizing after obtaining the necessary data destroyed by the Assad regime." Regarding Syrian-Russian relations, Shaa'r said that "it cannot be denied that Russia is a great power with its weight and influence in the world and the Arab region in particular." He stressed that "the new phase requires this relationship to be comprehensive and balanced with the government and the Syrian people," adding, "We want there to be friendship between Syria and Russia, government and people, and we are working on that," and confirming that "the importance of continuing cooperation between Russia and Syria is not only for political reasons but also for technical reasons." Regarding the possibility of resuming flights between Syria and Russia, Shaa'r explained that "there is nothing preventing flights to all parts of the world, not just Russia." He also indicated, "We are in the process of establishing a new state that is different from the past and are open to anything that benefits Syria and the countries dealing with it." Regarding Syrian-Lebanese relations, the minister affirmed that "the relationship between the two countries has started in a real positive phase, not political, and it is necessary for the relationship with Lebanon to be almost complete."
