The Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. Mohammed Nidal Al-Shaar, met with the Saudi Ambassador in Damascus, Faisal bin Saud Al-Mujal, on Tuesday to discuss a strategic partnership and investment attraction.

The Syrian Ministry of Economy, through its Telegram channel, mentioned that both sides discussed the prospects of drawing a long-term strategic economic path between the two countries.

The meeting addressed ways to attract more investments to Syria, and to open effective channels of communication between the Syrian and Saudi economic sectors. Minister Al-Shaar emphasized the importance of benefiting from the Saudi experience, especially in light of its ambitious economic vision, which has an impact on developing partnership and expanding areas of cooperation.

The Minister also presented an overview of the ongoing amendments to the investment system, which the ministry is working on in coordination with relevant authorities, aiming to restructure the Investment Authority and create an attractive legislative and regulatory environment.

Al-Shaar highlighted the importance of activating the Syrian-Saudi Business Council as a vital step towards enhancing trade cooperation and developing joint projects.
