Messi's Luxurious Villa in Ibiza Faces Demolition Threat Due to Construction Violations

American Inter Miami star Lionel Messi finds himself at the center of a legal crisis concerning one of his luxurious properties on the Spanish island of Ibiza, after reports revealed the possibility of a decision to demolish the villa he purchased in 2022 for around 11 million euros.
Violations in Permits and Expansions
According to the Spanish newspaper "ABC", the villa located in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia was built on a plot of land measuring 16,000 square meters, but it lacks a completion permit and a certificate of occupancy.
Additionally, expansions and structural modifications were made inside, including the addition of rooms and changes to the flooring design, without obtaining the required official permits from local authorities.
Official Investigation and Possibility of Partial Demolition
The local council has opened an official investigation into the violations attributed to the property, amid possibilities of demolishing parts of it if the legal situation is not resolved soon.
Some reports indicate that some unlicensed work was carried out before Messi purchased the property, which may lessen his direct responsibility for the violations.
Previous Environmental Protests
This is not the first time Messi's villa has stirred controversy in Ibiza, as it was subjected to vandalism last August by environmental activists, who wrote protest slogans on its facade in objection to the construction of luxury homes in environmentally protected areas.
Following that incident, Messi filed an official complaint with the authorities against the unknown individuals who carried out the attack.
Messi Between Luxury and Legal Responsibility
Although the Argentine star spends his time away from the fields in his luxurious home, the villa file in Ibiza now presents him with a new legal challenge that may force him to modify or even demolish parts of his luxury property unless the issue is resolved through legal means.
