Kaby Lam, one of the most famous TikTok stars in the world, has left the United States after being detained by immigration authorities in Las Vegas for violating his visa conditions.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed that Lam, whose full name is Serigne Khadim Lam and holds Italian citizenship, was detained on Friday at Harry Reid International Airport but was allowed to voluntarily depart without an official deportation order, enabling him to return to the U.S. in the future, unlike deportation orders that could prevent reentry for up to ten years.
According to official information, Lam entered the U.S. on April 30th but exceeded the allowed legal stay period according to his visa.
Although Kaby Lam has not made any public comments yet, his case has sparked significant reactions on social media, where he is followed by over 162 million people worldwide.
An interesting aspect of the case was the involvement of American teenager Beau Ludden, known for his support of President Donald Trump, who claimed on the "X" platform that he was the one who informed authorities about Lam's legal status, stating: "I found out he was an illegal immigrant... and personally took steps to have him deported."
Ludden often appears in photos with Trump and his son Barron, claiming to be a close friend of the latter.
These developments come amid the escalating campaign led by Trump against immigrants, including raids and arrests in several American cities, including Los Angeles, where widespread protests erupted against immigration policies.
25-year-old Kaby Lam, born in Senegal and moved to Italy in his childhood with his family, gained worldwide fame during the pandemic with his silent and comedic videos responding to exaggerated "life hack" videos in a simple and humorous way, making him one of the top content creators in the world.
