In an exciting development, the visual artist Shalimar Sharbatly, wife of the Egyptian director Khaled Youssef, filed an official complaint against a famous Egyptian artist and a lawyer, accusing them of fraud in a complex legal case dating back to Paris in 2022.
Tarik Al-Awdi, Shalimar's lawyer, explained that the mentioned artist claimed she could help Sharbatly with her case through a prominent international lawyer, guaranteeing the possibility of representation in French courts.
However, the shocking truth soon emerged, revealing that the lawyer was fake, had no international credentials, was not present in Paris during the court sessions, and took no legal action.
The lawyer reported that Khaled Youssef's wife granted the fake lawyer a legal power of attorney, which led her to pay huge amounts exceeding 50,000 US dollars and one million Egyptian pounds as fees and expenses without any benefit.
For more than two years, the well-known artist continued to delude Sharbatly about her ability to recover her money, asking her to be patient and wait.
Tarik Al-Awdi called for an urgent judicial investigation into the incident, summoning the affected party for questioning, utilizing documents, transcribing conversations and voice messages, and bank transfers, while registering the case as a misdemeanor of fraud and impersonation.
In a related context, tensions have recently escalated between Shalimar Sharbatly and the artist Hala Sedky, following mutual accusations in a jewelry theft case involving director Omar Zaharan.
The crisis witnessed a exchange of accusations of defamation, where Shalimar accused Sedky as well as Khaled Youssef of defamation, further complicating the artistic and legal scene.
