The city of Rada in Al-Bayda Governorate witnessed a domestic violence crime that shook the local community, where a Yemeni young man, named Saleh Al-Duraibi (nicknamed "Wahan"), killed his father inside the house and beheaded him, carrying his head among the mountains.

Local sources added that the brother of the perpetrator pursued him and shot him, leading to his immediate death, with both the father and son buried on the same day. The motives behind the crime remain unclear, occurring amid the spread of domestic violence in areas of Yemen under the control of the Houthi militia.

This incident is part of a series of crimes involving the murder of relatives recorded in the first half of this year, where the Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms documented 123 cases of relative killings and 46 injuries across 14 governorates. In just 48 hours, four cases of domestic murder were recorded in Al-Bayda and Al-Dhale'e governorates, including a horrific incident committed by a Houthi gunman in the Jabin district, which resulted in the death of three of his family members.

The Yemeni Network warned that the sectarian and ideological courses that Houthi elements undergo fuel a culture of hatred and violence among the youth, turning some of them into “potential killers” within their families. The organization called on the international community and the United Nations to pressure to close these sectarian centers and to take responsibility for the silence regarding ongoing violations, warning that the continuation of these practices poses a serious threat to the social fabric of Yemen.
