The President of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Jaja, stated that the arms of "Hezbollah" constitute an obstacle to the establishment of a complete Lebanese state, considering that the party threatens the risk of civil war after the recent decision of the Lebanese government to restrict arms to the state.
Jaja's statements came during a speech at the "Lebanese Resistance Martyrs" celebration in Maarab, where he emphasized that any arms outside official institutions weaken the state, calling for the national decision to be confined to constitutional institutions.
He also pointed out that the ceasefire agreement with Israel stipulated the dismantling of all illegal military structures in Lebanon, affirming that strengthening the authority of the state is the shortest path to ensure stability and protect the south.
In his speech, Jaja addressed "Hezbollah" by saying that any internal confrontation does not serve Lebanon's interests, and he urged members of the Shiite community not to rely on arms to secure their rights, indicating that their participation is essential in building the state.
This comes after the Lebanese Cabinet approved last Friday the army's plan to implement the decision to restrict arms to the state, during a session held at the Baabda Palace, a step that received varying political positions between supporters and opponents.
