Italy.. A century-old tree injures dozens.

A 50-year-old tree fell near a bus station in the Italian city of Venice, injuring 12 people.


Italian authorities stated that the most severe injuries were sustained by a 30-year-old Italian woman who was sitting on a wall near the tree with her two children at the time of the incident.

Another Italian woman in her fifties suffered serious chest injuries, with her condition also described as critical.

Francesca Zacarioto, the official in charge of public works in the city, told the Italian news agency "ANSA": "The tree appeared healthy."

She added that the tree was regularly monitored along with other trees in the city, and there were no signs indicating the possibility of its fall.
