In a development signaling a worsening of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Israeli army issued a stern warning to the residents of the sector, urging them not to head to the aid distribution centers belonging to the "Humanitarian Gaza" foundation today, Wednesday. The statement published on the "X" platform stated that the roads leading to those centers are considered active combat zones, and movement or entry through them is strictly prohibited due to what the army described as "updating, organizing, and improving efficiency" activities. On the other hand, the "Humanitarian Gaza" foundation, supported by the United States, confirmed that it will not distribute any aid today. The foundation is one of the main relief distribution channels in the sector, managing four main distribution points. Israel had recently eased the blockade imposed on Gaza for nearly three months due to increasing international pressure. The foundation has faced escalating international criticism recently, accusing it of potentially leading to the forced displacement of Palestinians. In light of these pressures, the executive director of the foundation resigned last month, citing "lack of independence and neutrality." The "Washington Post" quoted a spokesperson for the American consulting company "Boston" announcing the termination of cooperation with the foundation, further complicating the scene, especially after informed sources from the Palestinian Red Crescent and the advisory group confirmed that the continued operation of the foundation without consultancy support would be extremely challenging. In a related context, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced the killing of 27 Palestinians and the injury of more than 90 others - including serious injuries - while waiting to receive aid at the distribution center in Rafah city this week. The Israeli army reported firing warning shots near the location and is aware of reports of injuries, currently investigating the incident. The United Nations called for an immediate investigation into the killing of civilians, while the White House stated that it is monitoring the situation and examining the accuracy of reports indicating Israeli gunfire on Palestinians attempting to receive aid.
