The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Ismail Baqai, said in an official statement today, Wednesday, that "Washington's continued imposition of sanctions on the Iranian people clearly contradicts its calls for dialogue," adding that "this behavior reflects a lack of good intentions and seriousness in negotiations." The US Treasury Department imposed punitive measures yesterday, Tuesday, on the Iranian businessman Seyyed Assadollah Imam Jomeh, who leads an international network accused of shipping large quantities of liquefied gas and Iranian oil to global markets in violation of imposed sanctions. According to the department, this network has contributed to generating hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for Tehran. Treasury Secretary Scott Besent pointed out that Imam Jomeh attempted to export thousands of shipments, including from the United States itself, to circumvent sanctions and provide funding for the Iranian regime. These developments come as Tehran and Washington prepare for a third round of nuclear talks scheduled for next Saturday in the Omani capital, Muscat. Expectations are that the sessions will begin with technical consultations between experts from both sides, followed by high-level talks where the results of the initial consultations will be conveyed to political officials.
