Intensive Response by the Syrian Civil Defense to Forest Fires in Rural Hama.. and Extinguishing Two Large Fires

Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed Al-Saleh, announced the success of the firefighting teams affiliated with the Syrian Civil Defense in dealing with two large forest fires that broke out in rural Hama, resulting in extensive damage to forests, agricultural lands, as well as significant damage to homes and properties.
Al-Saleh explained to SANA that the first fire broke out in the area of Nabaa Al-Tayyib, and was brought under control after the intervention of 33 responders and 10 firefighting vehicles, in addition to logistical and technical support vehicles. However, the fire reignited after being extinguished around 8 p.m., prompting the teams to return to carry out cooling operations again to ensure that the fire does not reignite. He noted that the affected area is estimated at about 500 dunums of forests.
The Minister also added that a second fire broke out in Mount Taqsis near the Scientific Research Area, leading to the destruction of 20 dunums of cypress trees, and was completely brought under control during the early morning hours today.
In a related context, firefighting teams from various provinces, supported by Turkish and Jordanian teams, continue their efforts for the ninth consecutive day in combating the raging fires in rural Latakia, to prevent their spread and protect the environment from further damage.
