Intensified Communications Between Moscow and Damascus Include Military Assets in Syria

​Discussions continue between Russia and the Syrian government regarding their military bases in Syria and ensuring their continuity after the fall of the Assad regime.


Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated that the dialogue with Syria on all issues is ongoing, adding: "There have been no fundamental changes in the current situation up to this day."

, In his interview with the Russian news agency TASS, Ryabkov noted that Moscow expects, "based on logic and mutual responsibility, to protect its national interests, including military bases."


At the end of last May, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin affirmed that Russia continues to develop its relations with Syria on the basis of mutual respect, indicating that "the dialogue is ongoing and takes into account the interests of both parties."​
