The Syrian Civil Aviation Authority denied today, Wednesday, what is being circulated through some media platforms and social media sites about the closure of Damascus International Airport, confirming that the airport is operational and has not been closed, and is available for use by any aircraft in emergency situations without any obstacles.
The Authority explained in a statement that what has occurred is a temporary closure of some air corridors within Syrian airspace for reasons related to aviation safety, and they are being dealt with in accordance with approved procedures and in coordination with the relevant authorities.
