King Charles III praised his son Prince William during a banquet held at Windsor Castle on Tuesday evening, in a touching speech devoid of any reference to his second son Prince Harry.
The 76-year-old king delivered an official speech to the Prince and Princess of Wales, while hosting French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron at the historic castle, alongside Queen Camilla.
During the dinner, attended by over 150 guests, the king stood up and gave a speech with a candid tone mixed with humor, including warm praise for the family of William and Catherine, considering their residence at Windsor Castle to be of double importance due to the castle's Norman origins.
The king stated, "The castle where we gather this evening was started by my predecessor, your countryman at one time, William, Duke of Normandy, in 1070. This castle remains the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world."
He added, "Therefore, it is fitting that my son, the Prince of Wales, who bears the name of that ancient William, has chosen to make Windsor his home for himself and his family, as many of our ancestors did."
