The Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish Football Federation announced today, Wednesday, the suspension of Barcelona's German coach Hansi Flick for one match, meaning he will miss the anticipated clash against Real Madrid in the upcoming "Clasico".
The decision came after the appeal submitted by the Catalan club was rejected, as the committee deemed that the appeal did not include sufficient evidence to refute what was stated in referee Gil Manzano's report, who sent Flick off during the Girona match due to his repeated protests, which were accompanied by gestures described as "offensive" captured by cameras after Araujo's second goal.
Thus, Flick will not be able to be on the bench at the "Santiago Bernabéu" stadium on Sunday, although Barcelona has decided to appeal the decision to the Court of Appeal, in a final attempt to allow him to lead the team in the crucial match.
However, sources within the club expressed pessimism about the possibility of the appeal being accepted in time.
It is worth noting that this is Flick's second red card since taking over as Barcelona's coach, and the team had won the last Clasico against Real Madrid with a score of 4-3 in round 35 of the Spanish league.
