France Sentences Iranian Mahdiyeh Esfandiari to Prison and Permanent Ban After Conviction for 'Glorifying Terrorism'

The French judiciary issued a sentence on Thursday of four years in prison, with three years suspended, and a permanent ban from entering French territory, against Iranian Mahdiyeh Esfandiari after her conviction for 'glorifying terrorism'.

French media reported that authorities may consider the possibility of exchanging Esfandiari for the French citizens Cecile Kohler and Jacques Paris, who are under house arrest at the French embassy in Tehran, opening the door for diplomatic negotiations between Paris and Tehran.
