A military aircraft belonging to the Lebanese army flew over southern Lebanese areas on Wednesday for the first time in decades. According to eyewitnesses, the aircraft, a "Cessna" model, flew over Lebanese towns in the Nabatieh district. Witnesses reported that the aircraft circled for over an hour above the Nabatieh district, specifically over the towns of Zawtar East, Zawtar West, Yohmor Al Shaqif, Qaqaaiya Al Jisr, Jbaa, Ad Dweir, Mieh Mieh, and Haruf. This marks the first time in decades that a Lebanese army aircraft has flown over the southern Lebanese regions, as Israel has prohibited Lebanese civilian and military aircraft from flying over these areas since 1978. The American-made "Cessna" aircraft is used for surveillance and reconnaissance, capable of launching air-to-ground missiles and equipped with a defense system against ground-to-air missiles using thermal balloons. The flight of the Lebanese aircraft comes as Lebanese security authorities intensify investigations to uncover and pursue those responsible for firing missiles from southern Lebanon into Israel. Last Sunday, the Lebanese General Security Directorate announced the arrest of suspects in the missile launch towards Israel, an incident that Hezbollah denied responsibility for.
