An excessive pinch of salt could be a key to stomach cancer!

If you are a fan of sprinkling more salt on your meals, you may want to rethink this habit immediately;
A recent study conducted by nutrition experts at the University of Vienna has revealed a frightening risk facing salt lovers, as it turns out that people in the UK who overdo it in adding salt to their foods face a 41% increased risk of stomach cancer compared to those who consume it moderately.

The 11-year study, which included 471,144 adults, confirmed that excessive salt attacks the stomach in an unexpected way, causing erosion of its protective layer, leading to tissue damage and the occurrence of cancerous mutations.
What is even more concerning is that even after excluding factors such as age, social status, and lifestyle (such as smoking and alcohol consumption), the risk remained!

Commenting on these results, Salma Kronshtayner Gisifitch, a nutrition specialist and the lead author of the study, said:
"Our research highlights the direct relationship between excessive salt intake and increased risk of stomach cancer. We hope that these results will contribute to raising awareness and providing a strong basis for preventing this serious disease."

So, the next time you reach for the salt shaker, remember that every extra sprinkle may carry a risk not to be underestimated!
