Following an incident that caused widespread outrage, Egyptian security forces are currently investigating a video circulating on social media showing a taxi driver assaulting a woman in front of her children.

According to the circulated video, the woman was talking to the driver at the entrance of a residential building. When she attempted to take the elevator with her children, he attacked her, tried to steal her bag containing money and important documents.

The woman detailed the incident in a post on social media, saying: "My children and I were beaten and robbed in front of our house... and no one helped us! I can't believe what happened to me."

She explained that she had returned from Port Said to Port Fuad and took a taxi agreeing on a fare ranging from 50 to 60 Egyptian pounds. Upon arrival, she paid him 100 pounds and asked if he wanted to take 50 and return the rest to her, or take the hundred and give her back fifty.

She continued that the driver forcefully took the 100 pounds and only gave her 20, claiming the fare was 80 pounds. After a brief dispute, the driver got out of the car and followed her, verbally abused and physically assaulted her while her children screamed around her.

She added that he forcefully grabbed her bag, so she ran after him screaming for help. He returned to hit her inside the elevator, causing her to fall in front of her children, stealing the money and important documents inside the bag.

She mentioned that following the incident, she felt very emotionally distressed, unable to sleep, and suffering from the fear in her children's eyes due to the scene they witnessed.

She confirmed that she filed an official report with the police but appealed for support from the community, saying: "I filed a report... but I need your voices with me... share this post, help me raise my voice... I am a mother, beaten and robbed in front of my door, all I ask for is justice."
