In a significant development in a case that sparked widespread controversy in the media, the Court of Misdemeanor Appeal for Children in 6th of October City issued a verdict yesterday, Thursday, sentencing the son of the Egyptian artist Mohamed Ramadan to one year in prison with a suspension of sentence. This comes in light of accusations of assaulting a child inside a famous club in Sheikh Zayed City.
The session held inside the juvenile court was attended by both the artist Mohamed Ramadan and his accused son. The defense team presented an official reconciliation document signed between the artist's son and the family of the victim child.
The validity of the reconciliation document was acknowledged by both parties in front of the judge, who then decided to issue the verdict with a suspension of sentence.
The incident involves the artist Mohamed Ramadan's son being accused of assaulting another child in the club, leading the court to previously order his placement in a social care facility, before the crisis was recently resolved through direct intervention by the artist Mohamed Ramadan.
Ramadan had announced on his official Facebook account on June 17th that a friendly reconciliation had been reached at his home in 6th of October City, where the victimized child met with his parents. He emphasized that the rumors surrounding the case were "mere fabrications."
Ramadan shared photos of himself with his son, the victimized child, and his family, commenting:
"All that has passed were just rumors... to my son and Omar, brothers. Reconciliation took place in a family atmosphere, and thank God I gained a brother and a sister, Mohamed Salim and Rola. May God maintain love for you, Omar, and protect Ali and his siblings for me."
This family reconciliation followed the initial judicial decision to place the artist's son in a care facility, before the reconciliation document was submitted to the court that issued its final verdict today.
