On charges of publishing "indecent content" .. Egyptian blogger detained

In the latest steps by Egyptian authorities to regulate online content, security forces arrested Egyptian blogger Heba Tarek, known as the "social media beauty", on charges related to publishing "indecent" videos and inciting vice and immorality.
According to security sources, Heba's arrest came after receiving several complaints from citizens accusing her of sharing "unethical" content on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, where she appeared in clips wearing outfits described as "revealing" and performing actions deemed by investigators to violate societal values.
After obtaining permission from the prosecution, a security force raided her apartment in Cairo and seized her mobile phone, which contained the controversial materials, before referring her to the public prosecution to initiate an investigation.
The young blogger was charged with violating the 2018 Anti-Cybercrime Law, which imposes penalties of up to five years in prison and financial fines on those who publish content that violates values or contravenes public morals.
Heba Tarek, who is followed by tens of thousands on social media, is known for presenting content about fashion and beauty, but her recent clips have sparked widespread controversy among supporters who consider what she presents as an expression of personal freedom, and opponents who see it as crossing socially acceptable boundaries.
This incident comes as part of a broader campaign launched by Egyptian authorities in recent weeks, targeting a number of content creators accused of violating "societal values" or "public morals" through digital platforms.
