Egypt: Closure of an Unlicensed Beauty Center in Fayoum Reveals Involvement of a Former Election Candidate

As part of the ongoing campaigns carried out by the Egyptian authorities to control unlicensed medical facilities, a beauty center in Fayoum Governorate was closed, revealing that its director is a former candidate for the House of Representatives and does not possess any license to practice medicine.
The Free Treatment Administration of the Fayoum Health Directorate stated in a statement on Thursday that "one of the unlicensed beauty centers has been closed," later revealing that the center's director is an independent candidate for the House of Representatives in the Fayoum Center and City district, and does not hold a license to practice medicine, nor does he have an academic qualification to practice beauty, while it turned out that he is a pharmacist.
As a result, the necessary legal actions were taken, as the statement indicated that "the medications present in the center were seized, and a violation was recorded against the center's director who does not hold a permit to practice the profession." The accused was referred to the public prosecutor, who ordered the detention of the election candidate "Mostafa A.A." for four days pending investigations.
This incident comes in the context of a broader campaign launched by the Ministry of Health and Population. The ministry's official spokesperson previously stated that "the ministry continues to intensify monitoring campaigns on medical centers and private clinics to ensure they meet the conditions and licenses."
The head of the Central Administration for Non-Governmental Treatment Institutions also urged citizens to "ensure to check the licenses of centers and private clinics, and the licenses of those practicing before starting treatment procedures, to ensure they receive safe medical services," emphasizing that "the ministry continues to implement monitoring campaigns to safeguard the health and safety of citizens."
It is noteworthy that these campaigns have previously resulted in the seizure and closure of several unlicensed facilities, including a famous beauty center belonging to the artist Sham Al-Dhahabi, daughter of the singer Asala, located in the Fifth Settlement area in Cairo, during the past month of April.
