Doha: Opportunity for Ceasefire in Gaza

The spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majed Al-Ansari, said that mediators are in contact with Israel and Hamas to take advantage of the ceasefire between Iran and Israel this week in order to push towards a ceasefire in Gaza. Al-Ansari expressed hope in not missing this opportunity, saying: "If we do not seize this opportunity and momentum, it will be a lost opportunity among many that have arisen in the recent past. We do not want to witness that again."
US President Donald Trump said yesterday that he believes it is possible to reach a ceasefire in Gaza within a week. Speaking to reporters at the White House during an event celebrating the agreement between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda for peace, he said he believes a ceasefire in Gaza is "imminent" and added that he had just spoken with some involved in trying to reach a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
