Controversy surrounds the details of celebrating the anniversary of the founding of the US Army coinciding with Trump's birthday.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Army revealed details of the massive military parade scheduled to take place in Washington on June 14 in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Army's establishment, stating that the cost of the celebrations will range between 25 and 45 million dollars.
The event will witness the participation of dozens of warplanes, hundreds of military vehicles, and thousands of soldiers from various military branches, according to statements by Steve Warren, the Army's official spokesperson.
Warren explained that the participating soldiers will be accommodated in vacant government buildings in the city center, including the General Services Administration building and the Department of Agriculture building, with most of them arriving two days before the event and departing two days after its conclusion.
The timing of the celebration coincides with President Donald Trump's 79th birthday, sparking criticism from some civilians and veterans, especially amidst the reforms reducing the budget of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Trump had shown admiration for grand military displays during his first term, but backed down from organizing a similar parade in 2018 due to opposition from the Army and city officials over the high costs and concerns about the damage tanks could cause to city roads.
These events reflect the political divide in the U.S. capital, which overwhelmingly voted against Trump in the previous elections. As the Army prepares for the celebration, activists from across the country plan to organize protests against the president during the event.
The group "Socialist Freedom Road" has applied for a permit to gather in one of Washington's parks before heading to the parade site.
On the other hand, Navid Shah, the political director of the "Common Defense" organization led by veterans, expressed his dismay at turning the event into a personal celebration for the president at the expense of honoring the soldiers and their sacrifices.
In addition to the main parade, the activities will include fireworks displays and a day-long festival at the National Mall featuring musical, military performances, and fitness competitions.
It is worth noting that the last major military parade in Washington was in 1991, where hundreds of thousands gathered to watch a display of military equipment stretching along the capital's streets.
