The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced today, Wednesday, a concerning incident in the Strait of Hormuz, where a cargo ship sustained damage from what is suspected to be an unknown projectile 25 nautical miles northwest of Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE.

The agency reported that the ship's captain informed them of the damage on board, although the extent of the damage has not yet been determined, confirming that all crew members are safe.

The agency later clarified that the incident led to a fire on the ship, prompting the crew to request assistance and carry out emergency evacuation operations to ensure their safety.

This incident comes at a time when the region is experiencing rising maritime tensions, putting the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important waterways for oil exports, under close international scrutiny.
