Conditional release of Liverpool fan accused of racist abuse against Semeno

Merseyside Police announced today, Monday, the release of a 47-year-old Liverpool fan, after he was detained for directing racist abuse at Bournemouth striker, Antoine Semeno, during the match between the two teams in the Premier League.
The police clarified that the decision for release came with strict conditions, as the fan is prohibited from attending any football match in Britain or approaching stadiums within 1.6 kilometers for the duration of the bail release.
The incident sparked widespread controversy after Semeno, a man of color, informed the referee that he had been subjected to abuse during the first half of the match held at Anfield last Friday.
British authorities confirm that they will deal firmly with any similar incidents, as part of their efforts to combat racism in stadiums and promote the values of equality within the most popular sport in the world.
