Collapse of Two Buildings in Egypt Claims Dozens of Lives

The Egyptian capital witnessed the collapse of two buildings in the areas of Old Cairo and Shubra today, Friday, resulting in the death and injury of several people, while civil protection forces continue their efforts to search for survivors under the rubble.
The Cairo Governorate received a report of a collapse of a building consisting of a ground floor and two upper floors on Abu Al Saud Street in Old Cairo neighborhood. Authorities confirmed that the building was uninhabited due to an order to demolish it because of its danger. However, four workers sneaked into it in an attempt to obtain its wood, leading to its collapse on them.
Rescue teams managed to extract the four workers who were injured and transported them to Al Mabarah Hospital for treatment.
At the same time, another collapse occurred in a building in the Menia Al Siraj area in Shubra district north of Cairo, resulting in the death of one resident and injury of four others. Search operations are still ongoing for other missing individuals under the rubble.
