British Foreign Office Removes Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham from Terror List Amid Political and Security Controversy

The ministry stated that the decision comes as part of a comprehensive reassessment of security threats in Syria, and in response to rapidly evolving political developments, especially after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime at the hands of forces led by the new Syrian president Ahmad al-Shara in December last year.
The statement added that this step aims to enhance cooperation with the new Syrian government and support British foreign policy priorities, including combating terrorism, illegal immigration, and the destruction of chemical weapons.
It is noteworthy that "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" was listed as a terrorist organization by the UK in 2017, as an extension of al-Qaeda in Syria.
