In an incident that sparked controversy within the corridors of Borussia Dortmund, Mark Bellingham, the father and advisor of Jude Bellingham, attempted to confront the team's coach Nico Kovac, expressing his intense anger at the decision to substitute his son at halftime during the match between Dortmund and St. Pauli, in the opening round of the German league, which ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw after Dortmund squandered a two-goal lead.
Jude Bellingham (19 years old) had started in his official debut wearing the Dortmund jersey, after his transfer this summer from Sunderland in a deal valued at £32 million.
However, coach Kovac decided to substitute him at the start of the second half, a decision that did not sit well with his father Mark, who was present along with his mother Denise.
According to what was reported by "Sky Sports Germany", the player's parents expressed their strong dissatisfaction with the decision and waited for the coach in the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms after the final whistle.
Mark had a direct conversation with the club's sporting director Sebastian Kehl, during which he expressed his anger and deep dissatisfaction with Kovac's actions, as he is also an advisor to his son.
On the other hand, the German newspaper "Bild" revealed that Mark did not hide his tension but tried to meet the coach personally, which was noticed by some team players who witnessed the situation and commented on the obvious agitation in his behavior.
For his part, sporting director Sebastian Kehl confirmed that the dressing room area is reserved only for players, coaches, and officials, stressing that the entry of families or advisors into that area is unacceptable and will not be allowed to happen again in the future.
It is worth noting that Jude Bellingham's older brother, Jobe, previously played for Dortmund and achieved remarkable successes before moving to Real Madrid in the summer of 2023, where he continued to shine on the global level.
