In a surprising move, leaks have revealed that Apple has decided to temporarily abandon the performance lead in its upcoming processors, focusing instead on energy efficiency and extending battery life in the iPhone 17 series, even if it comes at the expense of outperforming its competitors.

An analysis published by the "Fixed Focus Digital" account on the Chinese platform "Weibo" explained that the new A19 and A19 Pro processors will focus on power consumption effectively, giving Qualcomm a temporary edge with its Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor, expected to power the upcoming Galaxy S series.

According to a report from "PhoneArena", the A19 Pro will be manufactured using TSMC's 3rd generation 3-nanometer (N3P) technology, and the processor is expected to score over 4000 points in single-core performance and 10,000 points in multi-core performance on the Geekbench platform.
However, it remains behind competitors in raw performance, especially Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and Dimensity 9500 from MediaTek.

Despite the relatively lower performance, Apple is betting that the A19 Pro will provide a more stable daily usage experience thanks to IPC efficiency (Instructions Per Cycle), even at lower frequencies compared to Android processors.

In the expected iPhone 17 Air model, a small 2800 mAh battery is expected to be adopted, confirming Apple's focus on smart power management rather than increasing capacity.

On the other hand, Samsung is waving a historical achievement, as it is working on producing a 2-nanometer processor that may be ready in time for the launch of the Galaxy S 26.
If successful in achieving a production yield of 60% or more, it will become the first company to introduce phones with a 2nm chip, surpassing Apple, which has always led the nanometer race with the iPhone XS (7nm), iPhone 12 (5nm), and iPhone 15 Pro (3nm).

If this is achieved, it may mark a turning point in the processor battle and reshuffle the power balance among smartphone giants.
