The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced today, Wednesday, the granting of an exceptional additional year to exhausted students in private universities after the date of June 14, 2025, which will be implemented starting from the academic year 2025-2026, in a step aimed at supporting the continuity of education and not depriving students of their academic opportunities.
Mohammad Al-Suwaid, the Assistant Minister of Higher Education for Private Education Affairs, clarified that benefiting from this additional year is conditional upon the student not having benefited from any of the previous decisions and decrees mentioned in Article (8), which include Decision No. 262 dated August 30, 2023, Decision No. 1 dated October 13, 2024, and Decree No. 98 dated June 14, 2025.
Article (8) stipulates granting an additional year to students of institutes, university degrees, qualification and specialization studies, and graduate studies, provided they have not exhausted the specified duration according to the applicable regulations, and have not benefited from the aforementioned decisions.
This decision comes within the framework of the ministry's keenness to provide a fair educational environment that ensures students can complete their academic journey and alleviates the effects of exhaustion, especially in light of the circumstances faced by the educational sector in recent years.
