Amid Widespread Devastation, Floods in India Claim the Lives of 51 People and Leave Dozens Missing

A new catastrophic wave is hitting northern India, as continuous floods and landslides since June 20 until early July have resulted in the death of 51 people, with over 100 injured, amidst ongoing rescue operations searching for 22 missing individuals.
Videos aired by NDTV channel showed the power of the raging torrents that swept through several areas, causing extensive damage to properties and infrastructure, amid warnings of heavy rains continuing until July 7.
A report from the Himachal Pradesh Emergency Operations Center revealed severe losses: 204 homes were affected, with 22 completely destroyed, 84 shops and cow sheds destroyed, and private property losses estimated at around 8.8 million rupees. The damages to public infrastructure amount to 2.83 billion rupees (approximately 33 million dollars), with significant damage to water, electricity, and public works sectors.
According to local media, Mandi district is the most affected, recording 10 deaths and all 34 missing cases due to sudden floods and torrents.
Rescue teams continue their work in difficult conditions, amidst an orange alert indicating more possible rains and landslides, increasing the scale of the tragedy and putting residents on high alert.
