The US Ambassador to the United Nations, "Dorothy Shea," confirmed during a session of the International Security Council yesterday, Sunday, that the United States launched strikes on Iran with the aim of assisting Israel and protecting it from threats.
Shea explained that Iran had hidden its military nuclear program for a long time, hindering Washington's sincere efforts in the recent negotiations.
The American ambassador added: "The International Security Council must pressure Iran to end its efforts to eliminate Israel, as well as to stop its attempts to acquire nuclear weapons."
She emphasized that any escalation by Iran will be met with a strong and decisive response.
In the same context, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, warned of the danger of the US strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, describing it as a "dangerous turning point" that could push the region into an endless spiral of mutual responses.
Guterres called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to serious and sustainable negotiations on the Iranian nuclear file.
On the other hand, Israeli sources indicated Tel Aviv's readiness to accept a ceasefire with Iran if Khamenei agrees, while reports revealed the destruction of more than 50% of Iranian missile launch platforms in the recent US strikes.
Amid escalating tensions, military experts discussed the motives behind the recent US strike, confirming that it was part of a deterrence policy to reduce the nuclear threats posed by Iran.
