After eight months of an unprecedented diplomatic crisis, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Baro announced that France and Algeria have agreed to resume cooperation in all sectors, following a day of constructive talks aimed at restarting dialogue after months of disputes. Baro said in a statement on Sunday, after two and a half hours of talks, "We are returning to normal, and let us repeat the words of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the curtain has been lifted." It is worth mentioning that bilateral relations between Algeria and France deteriorated, with the disagreement escalating due to the arrest of Boualem Sansal over statements he made to the right-wing French media outlet "Frontier," which the Algerian judiciary deemed as a threat to the country's territorial integrity. The tension was also fueled by the issue of repatriating Algerians who had deportation orders from French territories. The crisis peaked after an attack in the city of Milouz in eastern France on February 22, resulting in the death of one person, committed by an Algerian whom Algeria refused to repatriate after a deportation order was issued against him.
