Amid the successive developments in the region since Monday evening as a result of the escalation of the war between Israel and Iran, which peaked with Iran's bombing of the Al-Udeid American base located on Qatari territory, and the condemnation and diplomatic mobilization that followed this bombing invaded statements and positions of the region's countries, the most important of which was the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoning the Iranian ambassador in Doha, where it officially protested the missile attack, considering it "contrary to the principle of good neighborliness and the close relations between the two countries".
Hours after this summons, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made a phone call on Tuesday with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, discussing the developments in the region following the attacks carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran.
According to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Araghchi emphasized that "the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the State of Qatar are based on solid foundations of good neighborliness and mutual interests", stressing Iran's commitment to enhancing these relations at all levels.
He explained that the missile strike targeting the American Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar came within the framework of the legitimate defense right, in response to the American attack on Iranian sovereignty on June 22, pointing out that this operation does not target Qatar in any way, but is limited to foreign forces on its territory.
He added that Iran will not allow Israeli and American attacks to affect its positive relations with the countries of the region, expressing appreciation for Qatar's positions in condemning the recent aggression and its efforts to contain the escalation.
In return, the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister emphasized his country's commitment to maintaining the security and stability of the region, calling for restraint and preventing the situation from sliding towards wider escalation.
