After advancing to the third round.. Muchova's tears return to a shocking confrontation with her ex-boyfriend

After advancing to the third round of the US Open tennis tournament, Czech tennis player Karolína Muchová broke down in tears during her match against Sorana Cîrstea, after spotting her ex-boyfriend in the crowd, refusing to leave despite her request.
The world number 13, who reached the semifinals in the tournament in 2023 and 2024 and is considered one of the top contenders for the title this year, confirmed that the incident significantly affected her focus during the match.
Muchová expressed her deep discomfort in the press conference after the match, stating professionally: "Well, it wasn't about tennis, so I really don't like to talk about it, but my ex-boyfriend sat across from my seat."
She added: "He sometimes shows up in places he shouldn't be, it surprised me a little, I told him to leave, but he didn't, before he left later, it was hard to focus at that moment."
When journalists inquired about the possibility of a repeat situation in the upcoming rounds of the tournament, she replied nervously: "Who knows? I don't know."
It is worth noting that Muchová had a rocky start in the match, trailing 4-1 in the first set, before she steadied herself and overcame her opponent, continuing her strong run in the tournament where she recently celebrated victories over Venus Williams and Linda Fruhvirtova.
