Dr. Nabil Abdel Maqsoud, the personal doctor of the Egyptian artist Sherine Abdel Wahab, revealed new details about her attendance at the closing ceremony of the 20th edition of the Mawazine Festival in Morocco, confirming that Sherine delivered an exceptional performance despite difficult health conditions.
In exclusive statements, Abdel Maqsoud said he was not present at the concert, but he quoted Sherine's band leader as saying that the Egyptian star sang 23 live songs for two hours and 15 minutes, delighting her large audience.
He explained that Sherine used playback technology for only the first 6 minutes, then returned to live singing for the rest of the concert, emphasizing that this performance requires a great effort, especially given her health condition.
The doctor added that Sherine traveled to Morocco two days before the concert in good health and excited to meet her fans, but on the morning of the concert, she experienced a health setback that led doctors to advise her to apologize for not singing.
Nevertheless, Sherine insisted on taking the stage, ignoring medical warnings, especially with the difficult weather conditions of storms and dust at the outdoor concert venue.
Regarding the criticism Sherine faced after using playback at the beginning, Abdel Maqsoud said: "Sherine is the voice of Egypt, and her voice is beautiful. I urge everyone to support and encourage her. Singing 23 songs live for over two hours is not easy at all."
He added: "I see no justification for such harsh criticism, Sherine is well and currently working on preparing new songs."
On his part, Sherine Abdel Wahab's lawyer, Counselor Yasser Qantoush, issued a press statement announcing that the artist is facing an organized campaign aimed at undermining her success, confirming taking legal action against anyone spreading insults through paid campaigns. Qantoush explained that freedom of opinion is respected as long as it is constructive and without insult.
The concert took place amidst a wave of anger and criticism from the audience due to the use of playback at the beginning of the concert, where the attendees chanted for Sherine to sing with her real voice, prompting her to quickly respond and return to live performance.
She presented a selection of her most famous songs with enthusiastic interaction from the audience, such as "Ana Mesh Beta'at El Kalam Da", "Ah Ya Leil", and "Ala Bali".
It is worth mentioning that the Mawazine Festival marks Sherine's first return to the Moroccan stage after a nine-year absence, leading the audience to expect a full live performance, but health and technical conditions posed some challenges for the Egyptian star.
