Farmer imprisoned in Libya after releasing his lion on an Egyptian worker
A shocking video recently published in Libya has sparked widespread controversy, showing a farm owner releasing his predatory lion on an Egyptian worker for the purpose of "joking," causing great terror among the victims and public and official condemnation both inside and outside Libya.

The Libyan Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed the immediate imprisonment of the farm owner after recordings circulated that the statement described as involving behavior contrary to Sharia, law, and humanity, due to the threat this act poses to lives and the severe psychological and social damage it causes.

This is not the first time Libya has witnessed such incidents, as another video documented in July showed the same person releasing his lion on workers of African nationalities to scare them, which sparked a wave of anger and condemnation.

Libya is experiencing a recurrence of such incidents due to the spread of the phenomenon of keeping wild animals in homes and farms, despite government decisions prohibiting this type of practice.
This phenomenon has previously led to painful tragedies, including the death of a 4-year-old child in Ajdabiya after a tiger attack inside a farm, in addition to the death of a Sudanese worker who was eaten by a group of lions on a farm in the Bouhadi area of Benghazi three years ago.

The recent incident raises questions about the extent of law enforcement and the control of the spread of these dangerous animals that threaten the lives of innocents, amid public calls to protect workers' rights and curb these dangerous practices.
