The Jordanian army foils an attempt to smuggle large quantities of drugs across the Syrian border.

Jordanian forces were able to thwart an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of drugs across the border with Syria early Wednesday morning, following intensive security and military coordination.
Jordan's "Al-Mamlaka" channel quoted a source from the General Command of the Armed Forces (Arab Army) as saying: "Border Guard forces in the Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, managed to foil an attempt to infiltrate and smuggle large quantities of drugs."
The source added that "a group of smugglers trying to cross the border illegally was spotted, prompting rapid reaction patrols to engage them, causing them to retreat back into Syrian territory." He noted that "through intensified search and inspection operations, large quantities of drugs were seized and handed over to the relevant authorities."
