Temperature Exceeds Fifty Degrees in Iraq, Official Work Suspended in Provinces

Iraqi authorities announced the suspension of official work in a number of provinces today, Sunday, after the significant rise in temperatures, which reached record numbers, some up to 52 degrees Celsius, especially in Baghdad.
The spokesperson for the Iraqi Meteorological Organization, Amer Al-Jabri, stated in a press release that the heatwave will continue until after Tuesday and then temperatures will drop again.

According to weather reports, 10 provinces recorded temperatures ranging between 50-52 degrees Celsius, mostly in the central and southern regions, while northern provinces recorded temperatures ranging from 44 to 49 degrees Celsius.

The provinces of Basra (50 degrees Celsius), Maysan (50 degrees Celsius), Thi Qar (50 degrees Celsius), Wasit (51 degrees Celsius), Babil (51 degrees Celsius), Karbala, and Diwaniyah have announced the complete suspension of official work, while other provinces have reduced official working hours.

Iraqi authorities have warned residents that the heatwave will peak today, leading to an excessive increase in the impact of ultraviolet rays. It is advisable to avoid direct sunlight at noon.
