Tartous: Judge and His Companion Killed by Gunfire in Safita Countryside.. Security Opens Investigation

Judge Ghayth Suleiman Mohammed, who works at the Civil Court in the city of Safita, and his relative Abbas Ahmed Mohammed, were killed this evening after being shot by unknown assailants on Thursday, July 31, near the village of Al-Naasat in Safita countryside.
According to a statement issued by the Internal Security Command in Tartous, a security patrol headed to the scene of the incident after receiving a report of gunfire. The two victims were found inside a taxi, both having suffered "direct gunshot wounds to the head."
The statement mentioned that the bodies were transported to Safita Central Hospital, where medical examinations confirmed "their deaths due to their severe injuries."
Preliminary investigations revealed "previous family disputes between the victims," based on testimonies of relatives who were interviewed. Security authorities continue their investigations to uncover all details and apprehend the perpetrators.
The Security Command in Tartous affirmed in its statement that it is "working to complete legal procedures and hold those involved accountable," urging citizens to "exercise restraint and avoid being drawn into violence due to its negative impact on community security and stability."
It is worth noting that this incident comes amid escalating violence in several areas of Syria, attributed to the "proliferation of unlicensed weapons following the collapse of the former regime's institutions," leading to an increase in individual killings and assassinations.
