Damascus witnesses the launch of the first artificial intelligence conference and the experience of fifth-generation technology.

The first Syria AI Conference kicked off today at the Sheraton Hotel in Damascus, with the participation of elite experts and innovators in the field. The conference will take place over two days on May 6th and 7th, 2025, showcasing the latest local and regional developments in artificial intelligence technologies.
The conference featured a practical experience of the first tower operating on 5G technology in Syria, where the Minister of Communications and Technology, Engineer Abdulsalam Hikl, tested the internet speed over the new network, aiming to enhance the country's digital infrastructure.
The Ministry of Communications confirmed that this experiment is part of a broader strategy to achieve a qualitative leap in the field of communications, citing "tangible progress indicators during the first quarter of the current year," according to observers.
On the sidelines of the conference, Minister Hikl visited the Syrian Post Establishment, where he discussed with officials ways to improve the quality and efficiency of postal services, in addition to comprehensive development plans, expanding service scope, and enhancing cooperation with other government entities.
